Electric Light Wave

                        1 year 2 year 3 year
                        ------ ------ ------
T1 PDX SF 2420 2150 1882
PDX POP to my house 455 422 387
SF POP to Mtn View 646 646 646

Yes, that's T1, not 256kb. They're reselling AT&T long lines.

When I told him we wanted to co-locate in the PDX POP he said fine,

AT&T PDX to ELW POP 115 110 100

Plus rack space rental if we use ELW's rack.

Now this is starting to become reasonable.

Now how about you Southernm folk trying to get a decent deal for the leg
from CIX to Battery Street? Or is there a majot AT&T pop in which you can
swindle co-location in the dreaded Valley?

I have another quote from a LD carrier. Looking at colocation and using
SF as the end-point for a line to Portland I got this quote from
Communications Transmissions Group Inc. (Linda Haynes 362-2266):

 CTGI DS1 = 2333.00

As for colocation...

I have also found out that what I was lead to belive from some folks
about one single site for LD carriers in SF was wrong. There are at
least three primary sites. I have listed each site and indented the
carriers/companies located at each site.

274 Brannan - Owener is Fred Rea 362-4343

This site charges about $1 a square foot, but may have a minimum space
size. I don't think we could just put a rack in there and say it is 4
square feet. Also Fred is charging about $600 a month for conduit going
between vaults to cross connect. It is rumored that Fred is not hip to
colocation where his tenents are subleasing. (This info provied by Paul
Larson. I need to contact WilTel and see what they say, and then
contact Fred.)

  WTCI (Private Line/switched)
  ALC - Allnet (LD)

Index...
LD - Long Distance provider
ByPass - Building to Building, short haul provider
Private Line Switched -
Regional - Bay area provider
---

What I have found out is that there are TONS-O-COMPANIES that do some sort
of Long Disance or regional or short haul service. We don't need to use
Pac Bell for some of the short haul if we don't want to. Also, since all
of these sites colocate, we can do the same thing. Regulating the ability
to colocate would be redundant in this age of compeating carriers.

I should have more info by Monday...
