Subject: POP in Boulder CO??
Status: OR

Hello,

>POSSIBLE TLG/MEMBER RESOURCE SHARING:
>
>Under certain conditions, TLG may be willing to pay for the leased line
>to the customer's site, and a portion of the connect fee, if TLG can
>install a new POP at the member's site. Depending on various factors,
>this could significantly lower the cost to the member for IP services.
>
>As more sites are connected to this new POP, the member housing the POP
>would receive a portion of each additional connection fee, effectively
>paying for bandwidth used.

I have a few questions about this...

1) What provider does TLG get Internet service from? This is to
guage reliability and hops.

2) How fat is the TLG feed pipe? We might want T3 in the not too
distant future.

3) How is your business structured? Corp, private, public,
partnership, non-profit?

We're a planning more like a co-op here where the
subscribers own and maintain the hub and have an
opportunity to locate a server at the hub to be closer for
info service connections (don't want that stuff over
slip). We are certainly interested in the possibility of
working with TLG for a POP here if it will help us reduce
start up costs. Boulder is a small highly techno
community. The potential for business is quite good.
