In case you haven't been reading this since issue \#1, I'll¨
simply repeat this, it says it best:

\lline{\hlsm What the Fuck is HOMOCORE?}

``You don't have to be a homo to read or have stuff published in¨
HOMOCORE. One thing everyone in here has in common is that we're¨
all {\it social mutants}; we've outgrown or never were part of¨
any of the ``socially acceptable'' categories. You don't have to¨
be gay; being different at all, like straight guys who aren't¨
macho shitheads, women who don't want to be a punk rock fashion¨
accessory, or any other personal decision that makes you an¨
outcast is enough. Sexuality is an important part of it, but only¨
part.''\par}

This is the Deke issue. If you got your shit in the mail it's cuz¨
Deke put it there. That doesn't even begin to say how much he¨
helped.

And I thought the last issue was late\dots Well, to help make up¨
for it, this one is larger (40 pages). Unless you like photos --¨
unfortunately \#5 looks like a dictionary, since neither I nor¨
Deke is very graphically oriented, but tend towards verbosity,¨
dude. So send us your damn photos and drawings!

Too many things have happened here in S.F. since the last issue¨
-- so I'll skip them all. There have been so many reports on the¨
\circleA\ gathering I won't pollute the print world with another¨
-- but I didn't want to be left out so I stole one from the North¨
Mission News.

\centerline{\hlmed Foot In Mouth Time}

You may have noticed that there aren't too many women in this¨
zine. Or, in any other ``punk'' zines. Mike Gunderloy (FactSheet¨
Five) finds that nearly all zines are done by males. Just about¨
anything ``punk'' is male it seems. Why is this?

Take the letters column here for an example. Nearly all male. I¨
actually got more letters from women than published -- cuz the¨
rest said ``don't publish this'', tipping the ratio even further.¨
I think it's a combination of things -- once mostly-male, it¨
doesn't encourage more women to join in. Plain old low-level¨
sexism, here, in me, wherever. Also I think is this -- that what¨
we're doing invokes a lot of socially-innate power things and¨
that's simply not attractive to everyone. There's of course lots¨
of leather dykes, but punk drag is generally ``hard'' male type¨
stuff. Male sex energy is simply different than female sex¨
energy.

Also who's to say that what we're doing here is so fucking¨
interesting to everyone anyways?

It doesn't help that I totally spaced on Adrienne's story that¨
was supposed to be in \#4; but I spaced on Neil's too.

I wish there was more women's involvement, not for dumb fuck¨
peace-punk reasons either. I like women some of my best friends¨
are heh heh -- more seriously, I have four women roommates and it¨
would feel awful living in an all-male household. Again. It's a¨
qualitative difference. Sorry, but most straight men aren't¨
housebroken, if you know what I mean. (Frequently) never having¨
lived through major shit like fag-basher homophobia or constant¨
sexual harassment they usually just don't get it -- the¨
understandings and different intercourse that goes on between¨
those that do.

In the camera over there are some photos that Kimo took that¨
we're supposed to go on the cover but they are still over there¨
in the camera. They will be done by the next (!) issue\dots

Straight men always leave defending fags to the fags; and¨
defending women to the women. Why is this? Fuck you you're part¨
of the problem. At a local ``warehouse party'' a bunch of fag¨
punks (M \& F) were leaving (only partly due to hostile vibes --¨
it was a lousy party!) the hosts and presumably
non-homophobe partyers just stood by when some dickheads yelled¨
``faggot!'' etc after them -- by simply standing there they took¨
part. YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM!

\centerline{\hlmed Drugs are OK!!}

I'll take this editorial opportunity to force you to see things¨
my way. This anti-drug shit is going too far, OK? I was perfectly¨
willing to let it ride, like all the other media ``issues'' that¨
pass with the wind -- kid-napping, homelessness, etc -- but they¨
seem to be replacing anti-commie stuff with anti-drugs. ``Drugs''¨
(that oh so all-inclusive word\dots) are just another resource,¨
neither good nor bad. I owe many positive changes in myself and¨
my life to psychedelics. What follows here is \underbar{my}¨
experience; you must determine \underbar{yours}; you are on your¨
own cuz the fucking anti- people are anti-freedom and
anti-information. YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE FUCK YOU!!

{\blob} LSD is great. I did probably 50 or more trips when I was¨
13 to 18 years old. Best time to do it in many ways -- no¨
responsibilities! Set up a {\it safe, fun} and {\it easy} place¨
without stress. (No discos, malls, police or parental units.) Go¨
camping! Learn what goes on in your brain! Learn how cool and¨
interesting you are! Warm, trusting friends a {\it must}. (Eat¨
well first so you can forget about it later.)

{\blob} Mushrooms! Yeah! The Mushroom Being loves me! Like LSD¨
only sort of -- more body buzz, but for me, always a massive¨
insightful trip on myself. I take tons (3 $\times$ recommended¨
dose whilst camping in the desert \& lose my speech centers!

{\blob} Speed -- BAD NEWS -- for me anyways. And everyone else¨
I've seen take it more than occasionally. It's killed off a big¨
chunk of S.F.'s gay community and drained its energy with its¨
false promises. Big with the disco set. My body says {\it NO!} I¨
listen! I'm too paranoid too! (And there seems to be a resurgence¨
of interest lately\dots)

{\blob} Cocaine etc -- Used to do it a bunch -- free at a place I¨
worked. Fun, like TV -- great buzz, wastes all your time (\&¨
money), but no substance. I'll do it if you're buying\dots maybe.¨
Crack etc? No thanks!

{\blob} X (Ecstasy) S'posed to be great. Makes you love¨
everybody/thing. Ecch. Body chemistry expert tells me it's safe¨
except in extreme doses (causes Parkinson's!). Just don't be the¨
first to take a new batch. Someday I'll try it. (I'm¨
conservative.)

{\blob} Pot -- Makes me stupid. And paranoid. Who wants to be¨
that? I hate it. Rednecks \& hippies like it. Long term¨
cumulative effects seem to be to make you dull and listless. I¨
like being hyper! Goes away when you stop after a while.

{\blob} Alcohol -- OK, but dangerous shit. Fucks up your body.¨
Really messes up some people. State sanctioned. OK in small¨
doses. Readily available, I do alcohol more than anything else.¨
Low quality buzz, dulls all your senses and brain activity.¨
Great. Just what we need. Rednecks, cops, parents, anti-drug¨
types, skinheads and other assorted trash: generates {\it their}¨
state of mind. Need I say more? (Flammable too!)
