\lline{\hl S.F. Gay Freedom Day Parade}
\lline{(More photos inside)}

Story \#1: This float almost didn't make into the parade. Every¨
year the parade committee gets more and more conservative, and¨
when they saw this trashed police car hanging from the back of a¨
tow truck, with all those dyke/punk types hanging from it, they¨
musta shit bricks. The parade people tried all sorts of things to¨
stop them from entering the parade; delay tactics, claiming there¨
was a mixup, etc, but it was obvious that they simply didn't like¨
it. Eventually the homocore crowd got pissed, someone said¨
``Remember the first one [parade] was a riot!'' and they drove¨
into the parade. (I don't get it -- they let in the likes of gay¨
cops, republican/right wing homos, gay mormons and other¨
religious-defectives, etc? Jerks.)

This was one of, if not {\it the}, best float; people all along¨
the way screamed and yelled, got in kicks, smashes, graffiti, and¨
generally took some anger out on the police car. I don't think¨
the police liked it much. I wouldn't know; Mike and I slept until¨
1PM that day and never saw the damn thing until I got these¨
photos!

Story \#2: Though I'd {\it love} to take credit for this float, I¨
really had nothing to do with it. It was first proposed (as far¨
as I know) by Stephen Maxine and others from the Alamo Sq. Bar¨
(R.I.P.), and actually organized by Stephen and the Popstitutes¨
and many others. (Hell, I wasn't there -- I don't know!)

Since the cop-car float people were homo-core people (small-H),¨
when the press got hold of it it became the HOMOCORE float,¨
instead of the homo-core float. Which is the proper use of the¨
word, the title of this zine notwithstanding. (Look -- I simply¨
stole the word from Bruce LaBruce \& G.B. Jones of JDs zine.)

And Stephen, who started the whole thing, never even saw it -- he¨
got the thing rolling, then went to New York for the F.A.G.¨
(F{\ae}rie Action Gathering) event there.
