If you live in NYC, you know who Bob Z is. If you don't, he's a¨
guy that does lots of really cool shit for various NYC scenes,¨
like putting on dirt cheap shows for no profit, the PUNKTURE¨
cassette tapes, and dozens of other things.

To make a long story short, flyering is now a civil offense, like¨
a traffic ticket, ie. guilty until proven innocent, fines of \$50¨
-- \$250 per poster. The NYC Sanitation Dept is cracking down on¨
people like Bob, not the big guys. Bob is being fined \$3,000 for¨
allegedly putting up posters, while one politically well\dash¨
connected group was merely warned for putting up 5,000 posters.¨
When told that Bob is not a music promoter and doesn't profit in¨
any way from this, the Sanitation Dept lawyer acting as judge¨
said that this was ``not credible''. (Things that don't make¨
money aren't ``real'' I guess.)

This is far more important than will fit in this limited space.¨
The basic right to get information out at issue here. If you're¨
interested, ({\it especially} if you've gotten one of these¨
summons -- a class\dash action suit is forming) write to:

Send a buck or so to cover costs. Also, there's a great T\dash¨
shirt for sale that benefits Bobs defense, art by Ace Backwords.¨
There's an ad in here somewhere.

Does anyone out there use computer bulletin boards (BBSs?) If so,¨
call CH\circleA OS here in SF 415-626-6972 and say hi to Duke.¨
You can usually find me on the FACTSHEET FIVE BBS, 518-479-3879,¨
in NY.

Please, don't send me (or anyone!) small checks. Banks are¨
bloodsuckers, right down there with lawyers, the military and¨
insurance companies. They charge you to keep your account open,¨
they charge you to write checks, they charge you to take your¨
money out, and if Bush has his way, they'll charge you to make¨
deposits. So what if I cash your check and rip you off, and you¨
can prove that with the canceled check. What you gonna do, sue¨
me? Great idea. Lawyers. \$1? Be serious! Save it for scum like¨
your city gov't, so you can prove you really {\it did} pay that¨
parking ticket. Don't buy this ``security'' bullshit.

Besides I don't rip people off. Wrap the dollar in a piece of¨
paper, it will mail well. If you need another reason, take a look¨
over here to the right $\rightarrow$\par

There's gonna be a HOMOCORE show in San Francisco, as soon as we¨
get a venue. The lineup so far is MDC (Bay Area's leading¨
homo\dash punk band), Kamala and the Karnivores, and Blue Vulva¨
Underground -- last two are all women bands. Plus the Popstitutes¨
(bad drag\slash music you can't take anywhere), Will doing a¨
make\dash up table for boys and girls, security by nasty dykes¨
and boys in skirts. An afternoon all ages show -- fuck this¨
late\dash night barroom shit where all the drunk assholes come.

It will be Feb\slash Mar at Kommotion or the Deaf Club. You might¨
get info if you call the Shred of Dignity info line 415-882-9973¨
-- then again you might not.

\bar

HOMOCOREs \#1 (700 copies) and \#2 (500 copies) were xeroxed,¨
about 45\cents\ each. 45\cents\ postage if mailed. Stores get¨
them for 60\cents\ each, I ``make'' 10-15\cents. (Never mind¨
envelopes, paper, printer ribbons, halftones, reductions, etc.)¨
\#3 is Big Time (for me, anyways): 2,000 copies. Printing costs¨
about 33\cents\ each, I hope I can sell all 2,000 else I'm shit¨
out of luck on doing another issue.
