quoting Marat's oration, as quoted in an old green lead-type-press
book called "A Collection of Orations from Homer to McKinley" vol.7,
no copyright (before copyright), old enough to have lithographed
illustrations and sewn, folded quartos:

"I have submitted my opinions to the examination of the
public; if they are dangerous it is in combating them by
substantial reasons, and not in dedicating me to execration, that
my enemies should condemn them - it is in refuting them, and not in
raising over my head the sword of tyranny, that their baleful
influence should be counteracted."

... i'm touched by the above. Although, i do not like the word
"enemies". there are no enemies. There are unfortunate
limitations to present communications. But Marat did live in a
sewer for years, because he was publishing pamphlets that no-one
wanted to read until after the revolution.
