hi deke, vad here;

maile & i are ready to act on replacing our ucscb account before it gets
purged. i'm prepared to go into s.c. community internet tomorrow (likely
the only day i won't be at work). if you or tom have anything potentially
helpful to say to them now would be a great time. at this point the
branch can offer up to $50 per quarter. if you have chris brew's contact
info, that would be good, too.

i bought a keyboard for alexandra today, $16 used. i tried to find a
place called PC liquidators today to get a 3.5" floppy for under $35 but
never found it; there's no listing with information so i think it folded.
i've tried some other places & haven't found anything but new drives for
$50-$60, without controller. alexandra should be able to do e-mail now
that i got her cable back from maile, though. i'll let you know when i
get that working.

hi deke! just a note to let you know i'm thinking of you relentlessly
gazing into windows of emerging cyborg consciousness...i'm still sick;
having just caught the new thing going around--nausea, loss of appetite,
headaches--at least it's a change from the runny nose sore throat and
chest thing i had last week.

i gotta go, before getting bumbed off the phone (again!).

Hey there-
So how about that post-assembly post-action post-*event* let
down..its really something eh? Well we're trying to pick ourselves back
up- Tai and I have been working on starting the branch library and we now
have several lovely copies of the complete media file since february '94
which we'll be sending you soon. Bob Helms hooked us up with Ramona
Africa and it looks like she'll be coming to town for a speaking tour..so
things are happening its just such a drastic difference in pace isn't it?
I bought a copy of "the Internet for Dummies" for our branch and have
actually started exploring a little more so with time I should be more
skilled at this online info coordinatrix thing...and thanks for the
ongoing inspiration by the way! About being observed...what can we do
from here to deal with this? I view this as a community issue since we know
from past experience that even when they may be targeting one particular
individual the whole community network is being harrassed/documented/etc.
If you have any thoughts on this you're able to get out before this
evening (Wednesday) I'll bring them up at the branch eval sort of meeting
we're supposedly having here. And remember, you're not alone, NO
REALLY. You're truely fabulous Deke. Love ya, maile

THe 14(?) folks charged with the 148s (resisting arrest) from the May 11
sit down action had our cases dismissed today- although it looks like the
prosecution will be proceeding with an attempt to appeal Lisa Henry's
demurrer *only.* THat is they want to try to have a higher court declare
that the first sitting law wasn't unconstitutional after all just so they
can be right (this from Margaret Marr today as she was leaving the
courthouse. Apparently they plan to use Lisa's case as the showcase trial
to prove to a doubtful constituency and a police force that is
complaining about being made to feel vulnerable and foolish enforcing the
sidewalk ordinance that no really it was a good law not to be confused
with discriminatory practice. And all this meaningless expense ( as the
new altered sitting law is now in place) merely to address their injured
pride...
more on this when we know more.

hi deke,

i'm finally getting physically well, though i'm still cycling through
depression. alexandra is no longer running at all, but you'll no doubt be
happy to hear that cori gave me geoworks on floppy, so we won't need you
to be a go-between on that. dael is using the floppy drive now, so until
i can get another one to use, gmb computing services will remain thinner
than average.

i sang a full program of my songs at the earth first art show reception
yesterday; that was OK, i guess. i made my hard-core fan's day by giving
him the tape i used as a backup afterwards, which conveniently had my
best stuff. i figure the best way to get a band going is to get my stuff
out there. i'm sounding better all the time.

i'm getting tired, so i'm gonna go.
yours for the revolution (and oh i just can't wait, it'll be so great...)
vad.

Cool. Likewise, and psychikly too. The Targets of Repression
presentations were truly *inspiring*. And yes, I know Cory brought you
GeoWorks-- that was my doing. Us ever, you're qiute welcome! What's up
with Alexandra meanwhile? Having a hard time adjusting to all her new
hormones,emotionally?

Again, way cool. As for me, my mom and her wife will be in town as of
tomorrow night, for one week. I hope we can make it down there on Sat.,
so I can catch y'all's GMB meeting (at 4? at Tai & Maile's? Do I have
this right? Also, thanx to whomever's responsible for the notice I got
online...)

Got my ticket for LA, first weekend in OCT(as planned). Andrew Willett
called me today to confirm hook-up. Also, I've maintained contact with
Lorenzo (been putting his proposal out there), and Josie/Philly to a
lesser degree. And, um...oh yeah-- I got the SFGMB to give FNB a blanket
endorsement. I dunno what people think, but I proposed Food Not Bombs
(period), not Food Not Bombs SF. Makeof that what y'all will...

BTW, Monday was hairy, and next Monday will probably be so as well. I'm
sure folx down there can fill you in on particulars...

Oh-- and I'm reading Starhawk's new book,Truth or Dare. It's about
creating resistance to control-over, via the realization of immanent
worth (her secular term for pagan worldview). That's way oversimplified;
it's a *quite* excellent book, letting me see what we do so well and some
places we might do better too -->

In creatingthat Revolution you can hardly wait for

Without making ourselves sick doing so!

Stay FABulous, rest a lot, and as ever I remain

Yours for the Revolution,
