Hey Deke,
Just got a message from Matt M. re: comming to Philly when you visit. I wanted to check with you before I
wrote back. Clearly anyone you want to visit is cool by us, but as I felt that some of Matt's tactics durring
the Assembly were dubius and potentially destructive to the Assemblies harmony, I want to be careful that
the visit does not end up being usurped or hijacked into a Love and Rage thing.
Also, what would you like to do while you are here, do you want to have a cafe or talk at the A-Space, if so
on what topic? Are there any groups that you would like to meet up with, etc. I'll try to make sure that at
some point you get the social tour of Phildelphia (as in social question), but let me know what else.
My calendar seems to say that you would be comming on the 3 or 4 of November. Is this right?
From the barricades of my house,
Josie

deke, maile here, I am wondering when you are going to Philidelphia. Are
you going to try to go before they lose their squat? How would you like a
traveling partner? I'm still not sure of the idea but I've been thinking
and thinking about what directions to pursue in Santa Cruz and I really
want to see what they've done in Philly- I want to see how they've pulled
off such a functional squat and print shop etc... Basically I want to see
if they're as cool as they made themselves out to be and if they are then
I'll take notes....Hope to hear from you soon.
love, maile

Hi Maile,Deke here. Made the LAGMB scene this past weekend-- they really
kept me movin! I dug it. They got a really good group of folks, lotsa
potential... they could use some help on process, though. I'm gonna try
to coord. something with Miguel along the lines of makin the S. Cruz
scene to check out our notoriously FABulous process (as ever, relatively
speaking). More on that later.

Ah, next stop Philly. I'd *love* to go with you-- that would be immensely
fabu. Um, lessee... OK, I'm looking at taking a Friday and Monday off
work, and going there from 4-7 November. Like, leaving Thu. night or Fri.
early a.m., and coming back late Mon. night. If I'm going with you and
this won't work, I'll gladly fiddle with this schematic to make it work
for both of us-- I'm not emotionally invested in this rough schedule.

Meanwhile, I wanna come down to SC this weekend or next. Any serving
suggestions?

See ya soon! Meanwhile, I remain, as ever

I called to get flight pricing today and its 488.00 round trip, 278.00 on
Amtrak and 189.00 on the grey-scab bus. I assume you are planning on
flying? Have any ideas on fundraising? November would be okay for me too

Ouch!

> flying?

Indeed...heeheehee*:) Flappin' my lips and away I go *:)_ _

No really though, Philly said they was gonna fly me out. They quoted
something like $350, mebbe they know something we don't? But either way,
that means our job is halved. BTW, don't quit your Job for what's only a
long weekend, unless you're looking for an excuse to quit. (Though it is a
good way to, like an ex-boss of mine once said, stunned, "just go, like,
anarchy!?!!"...)

> Have any ideas on fundraising? November would be okay for me too

Well, mebbe a coupla... (though they seem somewhat predictable...)
--> 1) Mebbe Philly GMB would kick down (Though their buying my ticket
means we only need to come up with one. "All for one and one for all" is
how I feel about this, BTW...)
--> 2) Any provocative combination of:
*** the S.F. GMB (fiscally conservative, but deeply in love with wobs
like us, glad to hear we've come up with other,um,resources, also have a
lot of money but nothing to do with it, especially since they're in denial
about losing th'office[?!] and haven't started coping on getting another
one,for reasons I've too much to type but will fill you inon later... BTW
my space bar doesn't even suck, it blows *:)
*** the S.C. GMB (how much did y'all clear, after the final debts
from the GenAsmb were dealt with?)
*** My middle-of-the-month paycheck (I'm learning the hard way
that the first of the month check is skinny as I am, the midmonth is
where the situational fat is... I was so used to just being high off
making rent for the month that I lost this perspective! No, really.)
*** um, the General Administration. (psych!) But ANYway...
--> 3) We'll put on a show? I wish that were more, shall-we-say,
coordinatible *here* (things just haven't been the same since the
Barricades proposal went down in flames 'n'things, let alone Little
Mike, The Scab At The Assembly, but ANYway...), or mebbe we could hit up
all the woods critters in Santa Cruz Yet Again... (where, oh where is
that Third Way when ya really neeeeed it?!?)
--> 4) Turning tricks? (Not really.) Selling dope? (Just kidding.) All my
friends here are as broke as all my friends in S.C.... anyone else we can
hit up,personally? (Miguel? Tai? Um, either of our mothers...)

> as long as they still had their squat...Maybe I should quit my job and
> sublet my room for november...I don't know, just thinking out loud, I
> mean on line. Love to hear your thoughts...
> soli, maile
>

My thoughts are that I'm committed to making this happen. The real
score would be to get Philly to buy both of the tickets and send them
*together* (since they seem to be able to get a better price on that
coast than we can on ours, and we gotta fly cuz I can't take so much time
off work), then we pay them back as much as we could scrounge up. They
have functional *businesses* as well as a lot of GA money they will not
be compelled or expelled to give back (!!! geb ain't gonna press their
refusal, BTW.Remarkable, ain't it?) and we *are* going there to help them
out.

So,somewhere in the muck and midst of this all, *we* will get there.
Together. Let's work it (mebbe attend each other's branch meetings? ours
is on *Sunday* the 23rd this month, BTW) together, raw, and see what we
can come up with.

My suggestion for now is that you contact Philly and see if they'll
front for the second ticket, and also figure out a schedule in which you can
travel. (Oh-- my other suggestion is that their squat still being there
unmolested is secondary. Wherever *that's* at, it will be educational
enough!! In November, We Remember...) Erstwhile, mebbe we can come up
with, like, a hunnert each, hit each of our branches up for like 50 each, and
scrounge the difference from Philly, friends and/or, well, Coffee Night).

Or something likethat. In My Ever-Humble Opinion.

Drop me a line (or more *:) and lemme know what you think of all that.
Meanwhile, I remain

Deke, THanks for that long brainstorm of ideas. Well here's what I've
been thinking. I definately want to go with you in early November to
Philly and if possible I may sublet my room, mostly so that I'd have the
rent money I would otherwise be giving to the landlord. Or if this
University research job I am supposedly going to be doing over the next
few weeks works out maybe I'll have extra money...At any rate it seems I
am abundantly ready to "go anarchy" on the job front but not so much on
the house front...my housemates are just too amazing. First though I
thought I'd just ask Alisa and see if she would give me a month off...no
really she might just do it, we'll see. So anyway I wanted to update you
on those thoughts. Lets definately shoot for NOvemeber and start working
on the funds. THe cheapest flights I come up with are 401.oo round trip
from SF to Philly. Josie says he had alloted one of his unemployment
checks for your airfare so if you're still into the all for one outlook (:
that
leaves about 460.oo to come up with...I tried to ask Josie about the
possibility of other monies from Philly but he said that while they have
a bunch of money tied up in *things* they are very low on accessible
cash flow...hmmmm...
Well thats what I have for now, gotta run, talk to you soon,
love, maile

of/the whole month? Wow...)

Who ended uptaking Jakie's room? Two jobs at once? Gurrrrl, y'all got it
goin' *on* down there. It's enough to make any sane one Go Anarchy! Do

As ever, comrade! *:)

Well, OK. I'll have a whole paycheck to savage, but hopefully not $460
hard. I'll see what I can do on the branch, and even GA scene (No,
Rrrreally!) about this Philly Trip... The climate there is probably
better for fundraising than here in the shitty, Where Nobody Cares (or
cares elsewhere-- til it hurts! "No thanx, I gave a shit at the office...")
You know that scene! *:_}

Howbout SCGMB?

Hope to see ya soon, and talk to ya sooner! Gotta get along myself...
Let's figure out who/where we're gonna getthat second ticket, tho. If
we're gonna go together, seems like we should get them together (makes
the logistics a little easier to coordinate...)

Hey Deke,
Just a quick note. Since you left planning to us, how about this, you can do a talk/cafe at the A
space on any topic you think might be of interest (if need be choose between Queer Labor and INTERNET
Resources). You can hold court at the IWW open cafe on Sat morning, and we can schedule a video night
(a common A space thing) where you can show a couple of movies/video's. You can also check out the
local scene etc. in between. If you want to do a video thing, let me know what you want to show. It could
be serious, sublime, or silly (People have shown everything from Matewan to Russ Meyer's Faster Pussycat,
Kill! Kill!) We can get the video's here for you, so you don't have to worry about set up.
Solidarity for the short run anyway,
	Josie
(from Bob)
There has been interest here on you taking on Queer Labor, and as soon you can let us know the topic we will let people know. There might be a very good turn out.
In Solidarity
Bob

I just picked up $315.00 off the wire from Josie via Bob in Philly, for
th'tix. Now, it's our turn to coordinate; we should get them ASAP.

The SFGMB meeting isn't 'til the 23rd-- a mere 11 days (or so) before
I'll be free to go (talkin' the night of Thu. 3 nov.) (or we could leave
Friday? But I'd prefer Thu. night...)

OK, so money notwithstanding, that makes departure (from SFO?)
coordination easy enough. But, we're returning at different times. Do you
know when you wanna return? Now's the time to give it some thought, and
decide... (or so it seems to me.)

How do you wanna handle th'cash, meanwhile? You wanna send me whatever
you got? Or get the tickets yourself (i.e. I send you the money)? Or come
up here, and we can go get 'em together?

I get paid (most likely) tomorrow. Do let me know how you wanna proceed
from here...

deke, hey there! So the SCGMB gave us $100 toward airfare!! I called on
Friday to make plane reservations and found tickets on American at 360.00
each. I have them on hold and have to keep putting them on hold until we
go down to pick them up (Monday or Tuesday?). Here's the info:

Leave: SF 11:45pm Nov. 4 arrive at Philly Int. 9:50am Nov 5
then you would come back:
Nov 7 leaving Philly at 7:40pm and arriving SF 12:13 am
The record codes for these tickets are as follows:
Daniel Elash -SIRVOY
Maile Pickett - RIUYGU
Somehow she didn't give me a flight number but I'm sure I can get you
that before you actually go to pick them up. The place to go is:
American Air
510 O'Ferral St.
(between Stockton and Grant in the Union Square area between 9 am and 5 pm.)
If this is not the best location I can try to see if there are any closer
by or you could call American at 1 800 433 7300. Also are the times okay
on the way over and way back? Taking the redeye flight makes it a little
cheaper but that 7:40 time for the way back is just what she gave me - I
could try to see if they have anything later if you'd like...(I was in
the midst of dealing with customers at work while doing this so maybe I
didn't cover all the details thoroughly...just let me know what ya think.)
So that's the info and I plan to wire you all I can manage on Monday
though I still need to do my finances so I'll let you know on that. Oh,
what is the address of the Western Union I should wire the money to?
Talk to you soon, soli,
maile

All that is just fine. I'll go down there as soon as I get the money from
you. By my calculations, if you can kick down $170 and SC a hunnert, that
leaves the gap (philly money included in the count) of $135, and I can
cover that, no problem. With my name on one of the tix like it is on my
ID, that should be no problem. Also, I don't think which office of
Western Union matters so much (it's an anywhere-to-anywhere kinda thing),
beyond the particular cities involved. If it does, I'll be picking it up
on the 2000 block of Mission St (at 16th in SF). What matters more is
that my legal name be given as recipient, and that I know how much I'm
expecting to pick up. That'll be important to know... (the other things
are *your* name, and phone, and city wired from, but I think I got all
that down...)

At work, eh? *Nize* to know... Good Job, Maile! *:)

Can't wait to see ya, I Miss Ya, but am keeping busy and will fill you in
when we can interact. Meanwhile I remain
