Toms-Trend ***** Votes on Others' Motions: JD9 (Officiate JB's Organizing Manual): Abstain MD22 ($300 to Burlington Group): Yes MD23 ($1000 to LF Defense Fund): Yes JB22 (Revoke Funds to BPOC): No ***** New Motions: DN12: A GMB Charter be granted to the Fellow Workers at St. Louis, MO, USA. DN13: Affirm that the motions of this year's Assembly shall appear on the Fall referendum, as rightly intended by that body. ***** Discussion: JD9: I have heard some say that they thought the manual in question was too heavy on ideology and too light on skillsharing. As I understand the draft was circulated for comment by the membership, I would be very curious to see how these concerns have been addressed. I thought it to be quite good, likewise the Lehigh Valley manual. MD22: I believe this already happened, but just in case... I vote yes anyway. The Burlington Group's report was indeed a highlight of the Assembly, and I'm pleased and proud our union could help make it possible. MD23: I understand this is potentially a moot point by now, as a settlement has been reached-- again. Still, if it falls through (again), this funding will be just as necessary to that local and I for one would like to see them jump through as few hoops as possible in order to get the money if they need it after all. My Yes vote stands. JB22: I understand that this was made before amends were at the Assembly, and would presume it will be withdrawn forthwith. But just in case there's any malingering ambiguity... ***** Additional Comments: I'm still eagerly awaiting the wording on the GOB statement clarifying the situation with FW Ervin, as we promised to do forthwith at Philadelphia. I understand that that's supposed to come out of GHQ, and I'll be glad to so move as soon as the GST is able to produce it. I'm further glad that some peace, however tentative, has been made at Assembly this year, and only wish we could manage to resolve conflicts more than once a year. I look forward to lending a hand in this newfound solidarity towards turning our remarkable skills of contention back towards where they belong-- at the ruling class, not each other!
